Ascot Ties sophisticate an elegant style for special events.

Ascot Ties are originally from England. An ascot gives the wearer a look of sophistication and elegance. Extremely fashionable in the nineteenth century, ascots are usually worn in formal settings as alternative neckwear to bow and neck ties. After being worn in the sixties by artists and poets of the counterculture, there are more options today.

The ascot is a derivative of the more formal cravat. Ascots come in just about any fabric you can think of. There are ascots that come with Velcro closures and some that even come pre-tied. Otherwise, tie your ascot in one of two ways. Tie your ascot exactly as you would a necktie. Depending upon how you choose to tie your ascot, you can wear the ends out of your shirt or tucked in under your collar.

Wear a silk ascot with a lightweight shirt. Wear a cashmere ascot with a heavy suit. Use a traditional ascot knot for the most formal way to wear an ascot. It finishes with the ends crossed over in front and held together with a pin. This was the popular way to wear it in the nineteenth century. It would look quite striking this way. For the most formality wear a black or white tie with a tuxedo

Decide on what kind of occasion you will be wearing the ascot. It is best to reserve ascots for formal wear. Never wear an ascot with a crew neck or bulky sweater. An ascot is a great variation to try with a tuxedo.

Choose a color that will be most appropriate for the ensemble you will wear with the ascot. For formal wear, such as tuxedos, a darker color is most fitting. When wearing with a light-colored shirt like light blue or yellow, go with a pop of color. Pick an ascot with a subtle pattern, if any. An ascot is a difficult look to pull off for most men already, so don't choose an ascot with an overpowering pattern. Even if it is in style, stay away from loud patterns such as paisley.

Quality ascot ties are made of well-constructed silk. Good material will add an extra touch of sophistication. Stay away from polyester when looking for ascots.
